EVILBANE: Overview

By Jener Anolin · Updated

EVILBANE is an upcoming dark fantasy action RPG developed by Netmarble Monster and published by Netmarble. You play as a warrior fighting to reclaim a fallen kingdom from demonic forces. It supports solo play and online cooperation for up to four players, with combat built around switching between melee and ranged weapons. Official game details

How it plays

You head into missions with one melee weapon and one ranged weapon. The announced Steam playtest includes swords, greatswords, crossbows, scattershot bows, and magic orbs. Equipment enhancement and runes provide ways to develop your build, while Heavenstone skills offer damage, healing, and support options. Private operations let you share a code and assemble your own group. Official playtest details

The good side

The main appeal is the combination of close combat, ranged attacks, and squad roles. For RPG players who enjoy adjusting equipment and abilities, those systems provide several things to experiment with. Netmarble also describes a wider objective of recovering occupied territory, giving the missions a shared purpose within the kingdom’s war. Netmarble’s overview

The watch outs

The full release date remains TBA on Steam. The playtest build may contain bugs, unfinished balance, and placeholder translations, and all test progress will be reset afterward. Solo play is supported, but the developers warn that some operations may be difficult alone. These are reasons to treat the test as an early look at development. Official playtest notes

For players in Asia

Steam lists Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese interface and subtitle support. English includes full audio. The first Steam playtest is scheduled from October 15 to October 19, 2026, starting and ending at 4:00 PM Philippine and Shanghai time. Regional server locations and expected latency remain unconfirmed in the sources checked. Languages, test schedule

NEXTARCA’s take

EVILBANE is worth watching if you enjoy cooperative PvE missions and experimenting with combat builds. The playtest offers a chance to assess weapon switching, solo difficulty, and connection quality before making a purchase decision. NEXTARCA has not reviewed the game, so this overview reflects announced features rather than firsthand impressions.
