Kitaria Fables 2: Overview

By Aldrich Lim · Updated

Kitaria Fables 2 is the follow-up to Kitaria Fables, an action RPG with farming and crafting, from Secret Level Studios and Twin Hearts and published by PQube. It moves to the Arkadera Peninsula, a remote region at the western edge of a fading empire, where the outposts that once kept people safe have been taken back by nature and a small community shelters in Whitewall Town.

How it plays

You play as two heroes, the Royal Army Pathfinder Alice Skylar and the local guide Dusty Tuftkin, each with their own play style, skill tree and story. You explore forests, marshes, highlands and snowy mountains, repair the outposts, take on side quests and spend skill points on special attacks, elemental spells and ultimate abilities. Materials from the wild go to the town's artisans to craft equipment, potions and food, and you help Aunt Kiki rebuild her farm, growing crops and expanding it for profit.

The good side

The whole story can be played in co-op with a friend, locally or online, with each player as one of the two heroes. A free demo is on Steam now, and the PC requirements are light: 4 GB of memory and a GTX 1050 Ti class card.

The watch-outs

There is no exact date, only spring 2027 on the publisher's page and the second quarter on Steam. Voice acting is not listed, so expect text-driven storytelling.

For players around the world

Text covers English, French, German, Spanish, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and both forms of Chinese. The publisher lists Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and no region dates have been announced yet.

NEXTARCA's take

This looks like a cosy pick for two players: combat, farming and crafting in one loop, with a full co-op story. Try the demo first, since the balance between fighting and farming is what decides whether it holds you for long.
