Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United

Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United is a full 3D remake of the 1995 JRPG, from Square Enix with xeen. Steam lists it for February 16, 2027 at $59.99. Every 300 years the Star of Death rises and dooms all born beneath it, except one, the Child of Destiny.

How it plays

You choose one of eight protagonists, and the adventure unfolds differently for each. Battles are turn based. The SaGa series is known for letting you wander freely and for systems that do not behave like other RPGs. The remake adds 3D graphics, refined systems, new musical arrangements and voice acting.

The good side

Eight heroes give it real replay value. This studio's earlier SaGa remake was well received and made a difficult series easier to enjoy. The requirements are light, with 8 GB of memory and an entry level processor recommended, and full controller support is listed.

The watch-outs

SaGa games are an acquired taste. They explain little, and progress works in unusual ways, so even experienced RPG players can feel lost. It uses Denuvo. The price is $59.99 for a remake. There are no reviews yet, and we do not know how much the systems have been softened for newcomers.
