XENOFALL: Overview

By Aldrich Lim · Updated

XENOFALL is a fast single player anime action roguelite from HDMT Games, set on an Earth ravaged by an alien invasion that never stops. You are all that is left. Steam lists it for January 2027 on PC, and a free demo is out now as part of Steam Next Fest.

How it plays

You fight through hostile stages and beat the boss guarding each teleporter to reach the next zone. There are five fighter classes at launch, each with a signature weapon: single sword, dual swords, dual pistols, shotgun and rifle. Every fighter has two skill loadouts, so the same weapon can be played aggressive or controlled. Items stack and combine, and the longer a run lasts, the wilder the build becomes. The full game has 10 stages.

The good side

Mixing melee and ranged classes in one roguelite gives it more range than most. You can customize each fighter's outfit and face. The demo is substantial: two fighters, two stages with two bosses, 32 items and full loadout choice.

The watch-outs

It is English only, and the Steam page does not list controller support. Stacking item games can tip into chaos, so balance will matter. The minimum PC is modest: 8 GB of memory and a GTX 1060.

For players around the world

It is a PC game on Steam, so it should launch worldwide on the same day, but no exact date or unlock time has been given beyond January 2027. The demo can be downloaded in any region.

NEXTARCA's take

XENOFALL wears its inspirations openly and adds anime style and real class variety on top. The demo is generous enough to judge the feel of both blades and guns, and January is close enough that it is a fair one to wishlist now.
