NC has opened the AION 2 preload ahead of the MMORPG’s September 30 advanced access period. Players can download the game through Steam or NC’s PURPLE launcher. A Founder’s Pack is required to play during advanced access. NC’s download announcement does not say that a pack is required simply to download the files.
What happens after the download?
The files remain encrypted until September 30. NC says the game must decrypt before it can be played, but players will not need to reinstall it for that step. Decryption time will depend on the player’s PC. The announcement gives a date, but no exact unlock hour or time zone.
Players who joined the earlier Launch Scale Test on Steam have one additional step: NC says to uninstall the AION 2 Playtest app and download the separate AION 2 client. According to its test closing notice, PURPLE players do not need to replace their test installation.
Advanced access runs from September 30 through October 4 for Founder’s Pack owners. AION 2’s official launch is scheduled for October 5.
