AION 2 players will be able to move their characters to another server starting next week. NC confirmed the details in the studio's announcement on October 9, along with a long question and answer notice. The transfer itself costs nothing, but each account can use it only once.

When transfers open

The transfer is sold in the in-game shop, under Server Transfer, in two separate weeks:

  • Early Access servers: from the end of the regular maintenance on October 13 (PDT), which is October 14 in Europe, until the maintenance on October 20 (PDT).

  • Launch servers: from the end of the maintenance on October 20 (PDT) until the maintenance on October 27 (PDT).

You cannot buy it at any hour. Each region has two daily windows. For the Asia region, NC lists 20:00 to 00:00 and 02:00 to 06:00 PDT. That works out to 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Asia time (GMT+8). North America, South America and Europe have their own hours in the notice.

What it costs

The base cost is 0 Quna and the cost per character is also 0 Quna. There is no limit on how many characters you move in that one transfer.

The only charge is for character slots. If the new server does not have enough free slots for everyone you bring, each extra slot costs 1,000 Quna. NC's own example: moving six characters to a server with four free slots costs 2,000 Quna. Slot expansions you bought on your old server stay behind.

The rules to check first

  • One transfer per account for the whole period, and it cannot be cancelled or reversed.

  • Same region and same faction only. Early Access servers can only move to other Early Access servers.

  • Characters must be level 10 or higher, standing in a village, not in a Legion, with no pending Legion application and no active Duty missions.

  • Clear your Market listings and proceeds, Shop Storage and mailbox first. Any of them blocks the purchase.

  • A server that has reached its transfer capacity, in or out, is closed to transfers.

What moves and what stays

Most of your progress travels with you: Quna, Mileage, Kina held by the character, Membership, Daeva Pass progress, pets, skins, titles, achievements, season points and your friends list.

Two things need attention. Items in Server Storage do not transfer, so move them into the character's inventory or Character Storage before you buy. Your name is also reset to a temporary one. You pick a name at first login, and if your old one is taken on the new server you cannot have it back.

Pets and skins leave with the transferred characters. If you move only some of your characters, the ones left behind lose access to them.

NEXTARCA's take

A free transfer one week after launch is a fair offer, and it is the right fix for players who picked a crowded server or landed apart from friends. The catch is how little room for error there is. One move per account, no undo, a level 10 floor and a short daily window mean this rewards people who plan before they click.

Our advice for players in Asia: agree on a destination with your group first, empty Server Storage and your mailbox the night before, and buy early in the 11:00 AM window. Capacity limits can close a popular server without warning, and NC has only said the product may return later.
