Castlevania: Belmont's Curse: Overview

By Aldrich Lim · Updated

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a 2D action exploration game with RPG style equipment and builds, published by KONAMI and made with Evil Empire and Motion Twin. It is set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Monsters pour out of a castle that looms over the burning city, and Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, takes up the Vampire Killer whip to hunt them.

How it plays

The whip is both weapon and movement tool. The official pages describe Rose swinging across the stage like a trapeze artist and dropping onto enemies in fast combat. This is a single player game, and the Steam page lists full controller support.

Bosses named so far are Death, Medusa and Carmilla, plus a new one, Joan of Arc. A defeated boss is sealed into one of Rose's tarot cards as an Arcana, which then gives her a spell or a special action. Builds come from weapons in seven categories and from Relics that add offensive or defensive effects. Equipment is found by exploring and can be combined to suit a playstyle.

What it costs

It is a paid game sold in two versions. The Midnight Edition adds the Digital Sound and Art Gallery, a separate app with over 100 artworks and a music player, plus the Trevor Style Costume, the Sypha Style Costume and the Family's Grace Relic. Pre-orders include an Alucard Style Costume. The store page lists no in-game purchases.

For players in Asia

Text is available in Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, along with English and six other languages. Voices are in Japanese and English only. KONAMI lists the game for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC and Steam, and runs Asian versions of the official site in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean. The site states 60 frames per second on most platforms and 30 on Nintendo Switch. On PC, the Steam page asks for Windows 11, 16 GB of memory and a GeForce GTX 1650 at minimum, with 10 GB of storage. A demo is listed on the Steam page. The official pages do not state a launch time or name regional servers.

What is still unknown

  • The exact launch hour. KONAMI's site gives October 15, 2026, while the Steam page currently shows October 14.

  • How long the game is and what, if anything, opens up after the story.

  • What the "Castlevania Spirit" entry on the official site refers to.

  • Whether demo progress carries over to the full game.
