Castlevania: Belmont's Curse known issues: PC launch fix, Steam Deck UI and a patch in the works
Konami's Ver. 1.1.3 update targets the PC launch failure and black screen on high refresh rate monitors, but may not fix it for everyone. The Steam Deck and Arabic language issues are still open.

Update (17 October 2026): Konami has released Ver. 1.1.3, an update aimed at the game failing to launch and showing a black screen on high refresh rate monitors. In its notice on Steam, posted on 16 October, Konami says the update should improve things but the problem may still happen on some setups, and it is still working on a full fix. The Steam Deck and Arabic language issues are not mentioned, and the known issues notice on the official site has not changed.
Konami listed three known problems in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse a day before its 15 October release. In a known issues notice on the official site, dated 14 October, the publisher said a patch was being prepared and would be announced once it was ready. Ver. 1.1.3 is the first update that speaks to one of these problems.

Where the three issues stand now
1. The game may not start on PC: partly addressed
The original notice said the game can fail to launch on Steam and Xbox on PC when V-Sync is off and the frame rate is set to unlimited. Ver. 1.1.3 targets a launch failure with a black screen on high refresh rate monitors, which sounds like the same family of problem, but Konami does not say whether it is exactly the same bug or whether the update covers Xbox on PC as well as Steam. Konami is also clear that the fix may not work for everyone yet.
Until Konami confirms a full fix, the original workaround still applies if the game will not start after the update:
In Windows, drop your monitor's refresh rate below 60Hz for now.
Start the game, open Video Settings from the title screen and switch V-Sync on.
Close the game and set your refresh rate back to normal.
If it still does not launch, Konami asks players to contact its customer support.
2. UI cut off on Steam Deck: no fix yet
Some parts of the interface may sit partly off screen on Steam Deck. Konami said it was looking into a fix, and the Ver. 1.1.3 notice does not mention it.
3. Stuck on the title screen with Arabic as system language: no fix yet
On PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Xbox on PC, players whose system language is Arabic may get stuck on the title screen after they save and quit. The workaround is still to switch the system language to one the game supports, such as English, and then continue from the existing save.
Release details
The official site lists the release for 15 October 2026 on PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC and Steam. KONAMI publishes the game, with Evil Empire and Motion Twin credited as the studios involved. The Switch version is not named in any of the three issues.
What is still unknown
Konami has not given a date for the full fix to the launch problem, or for fixes to the Steam Deck and Arabic language issues. The Ver. 1.1.3 notice does not say which platforms received the update, and Konami only says it will share more about future updates once they are ready.
NEXTARCA's take
A quick first update two days after launch is the right move, and Konami deserves credit for being honest that it may not solve the black screen for everyone. That kind of plain wording is more useful than a patch note that claims a fix and leaves players guessing.
If you play on PC, update the game first and try again. If it still will not start, the V-Sync workaround remains your best bet. Steam Deck players and anyone using Arabic as a system language should keep waiting, since nothing has changed for them yet.
