Camelot Unchained has received its 0.50 Early Access update, and it brings two things Realm versus Realm players have been waiting for: a Scout class for each Realm and the first version of siege. Unchained Entertainment detailed the changes in its update notes.

Three new Scout classes

Scouts are fast, mobile classes built around utility, debuffs and crowd control. The studio says they deal less raw damage than other classes and work best in a supporting role, gathering information and tilting a fight for their side.

  • Wisp (Tuathans): gains Vanish, which sends you straight to the Veil but only works below 50% Health.

  • Spectre (Arthurians): gains Ghost Form, a stance that raises Movement Speed and Physical Resistances and applies Stealth out of combat, while limiting which abilities you can use.

  • Arisen (Vikings): has Walking Dead. When you would die, you drop to 1 Health and become immune to damage for 8 seconds, with more Movement Speed and Melee Damage. It has a 5 minute cooldown.

Siege arrives with trebuchets

Weaponsmiths, Woodworkers and Leatherworkers can now craft deployable trebuchet kits as a level 9 recipe. A kit can be placed anywhere in the RvR zones, but it is a one time use item.

  • A trebuchet breaks down after ten minutes and can be attacked by enemy players.

  • Players now do far less damage to outer gates, so siege weapons matter when taking a Keep.

  • Friendly fire is off. The team says its own playtests made that an easy decision.

Realm specific trebuchet designs are planned for a later update.

Combat changes

A new stat, Action Speed, shortens the activation time of abilities that are not instant. For now it only comes from the Blackguard’s Siege Stance, with gear and other abilities planned to grant it later.

Control effects now have diminishing returns. Hitting the same target with them again and again has a weaker effect, then none, which should stop large groups from locking one player down.

The update also adds respawn sickness at Keep respawns, grants Class XP for applying status effects in RvR, and raises candleberry yields. More details are on our Camelot Unchained game page.

Which Realm’s Scout would you play first?
