AION 2 Maintenance on October 21 Takes Servers Offline for About 5.5 Hours

NC will take AION 2's game servers down for scheduled maintenance on October 21, and login will be unavailable for about 5.5 hours. The maintenance notice on Steam says players will be disconnected when it begins, and that details of the update arriving with it will be shared later.

Start and end times around the world

NC gives the start as 11:30 PM PDT on October 20, which is 8:30 AM CEST on October 21 (06:30 UTC). That is the same moment as:

• 2:30 PM on October 21 in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei (GMT+8)

• 3:30 PM on October 21 in Seoul and Tokyo (GMT+9)

• 8:30 AM on October 21 in Central Europe (CEST)

• 7:30 AM on October 21 in London (BST)

• 2:30 AM on October 21 in New York (EDT)

• 11:30 PM on October 20 in Los Angeles (PDT)

NC does not state an end time. With the planned length of about 5.5 hours, the servers should return around 12:00 UTC: 8:00 PM in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, 9:00 PM in Seoul and Tokyo, 2:00 PM in Central Europe, 1:00 PM in London, 8:00 AM in New York and 5:00 AM in Los Angeles. NC says the schedule may change, and any change will be posted in the same notice.

What we know about the update

Very little so far. The notice does not list new content, fixes or compensation. NC only says the update details will follow.

NC's other recent Steam notices give some context. The Conquerors of the Abyss offer, which sells 7-day Lower Abyss Rift Stones for Kina, runs until the October 27 maintenance, so this downtime does not end it. The Halloween Trick or Treat event runs until the November 3 maintenance. NC has also announced two rounds of account restrictions this month, 7,933 accounts and then 10,326 more, for botting, gold farming, unauthorized programs and real money trading.

NEXTARCA's take

Five and a half hours is long for a routine patch, which hints at more than a quick fix, but NC has not said what is coming and we will not guess. The timing falls very differently around the world: players in Asia lose the afternoon and early evening, Europe loses the morning, and in the Americas most of the work happens overnight.

If you are in Asia, finish your daily runs before the servers go down. Anyone holding Abyss Rift Stones or Pumpkin Coins has no reason to rush, since neither offer ends with this maintenance. We will cover the patch notes once NC publishes them.
