NEXTARCA's CONTROL Resonant news in one place, newest first. Remedy released the action RPG on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Dylan Faden fighting through a warped Manhattan. Below are the launch trailer, the move to melee combat, the PC graphics features, Update 1.4.0 with New Game++, and the soundtrack.

October 2, 2026: CONTROL Resonant Soundtrack by Petri Alanko Is Out Now

The music of CONTROL Resonant now has its own release. Milan Records put out CONTROL RESONANT (Original Soundtrack) on October 2, 2026, an album of 13 tracks written by returning series composer Petri Alanko, according to the label's announcement. The label says it is available everywhere now.

It arrives eight days after Remedy Entertainment's action RPG launched on September 24, so players who have finished Dylan Faden's story can go back to its score straight away.

What is on the album

The album is led by the vocal track “The One I Once Knew,” featuring Amelia Jones, which closes the tracklist. A second guest appears earlier: flautist Veronika Vitazkova plays on “Into the Sunshine.” The label also singles out “Obsessive Compulsive Order” as an example of the tense, otherworldly side of the score.

The full tracklist, as published by Milan Records:

  1. Tabula Rasa

  2. Into the Sunshine (featuring Veronika Vitazkova, flute)

  3. Obsessive Compulsive Order

  4. Activate - Execute

  5. Thrown Out

  6. Back to Zero

  7. The Cell

  8. Entity in Gap

  9. Sibling Theme (Broken Conduit) (Long Version)

  10. Final Conduit Pt. 2

  11. Final Fight

  12. Final Conclusion

  13. The One I Once Knew (featuring Amelia Jones)

Several titles name late story moments, so anyone still playing may want to finish the game before reading the list too closely.

Who wrote it

Petri Alanko is the Finnish composer behind the music of the original CONTROL, as well as Remedy's Alan Wake games and Quantum Break. For the sequel, the label describes a score that mixes vocal textures and distorted electronic sound with more openly emotional themes.

Alanko says the project affected him more than he expected. “Emotionally CONTROL Resonant went deeper under my skin than I expected,” he said in the announcement, calling it “a story about devotion, dedication and determination.”

What players should know

The announcement confirms a digital release that is out now. It does not name specific music services, give a price, or mention a vinyl or CD edition, so those details are unconfirmed for now.

CONTROL Resonant itself is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Release details, platforms and system requirements are on the CONTROL Resonant game page.

October 1, 2026: CONTROL Resonant Update 1.4.0 Adds New Game++ and Quality of Life Updates

Remedy Entertainment published its CONTROL Resonant Game Update 1.4.0 notes on Steam on October 1. The update introduces New Game++, allowing players to continue into further New Game+ runs without erasing their earlier progress. Remedy had previously said the feature was planned for October. (Earlier post launch plans)

The notes also move Build Power to the Loadout screen, add a notification when new purchases or upgrades are available in The Gap, and show on the map when pinned upgrade materials are sold by a Vendor. These changes make progression and upgrade tasks easier to track.

Players can expect a reduction of 10 to 15 percent in combat volume and intensity in the Unknown Zone. Assist Mode gains a setting to adjust Power Core Charge duration from 100 to 300 percent. A separate radio dialogue slider lets players balance audio between their speakers or headphones and the DualSense controller speaker.

The update notes also list PC performance improvements, crash fixes across all platforms, corrections to dialogue, subtitles and HDR, and support for Razer haptics. They include a setting to mute Apocalyptica’s “Upperhand” during the intro credits.

The Steam notes do not specify separate rollout timing or build numbers for each platform. Players should check their platform’s update client for availability.

Where CONTROL Resonant stands

CONTROL Resonant launched on September 24, 2026 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. A week before this patch, Remedy said unlimited New Game Plus runs were planned for October, with Photo Mode expected in November and more cosmetic items in a later update. Game Update 1.4.0 delivers the first of those.

September 25, 2026: CONTROL Resonant Players Could Get Unlimited New Game Plus Runs in October

Remedy Entertainment is preparing two additions for CONTROL Resonant following its September 24 launch. An update targeted for October should allow players to start another New Game Plus run after completing one, while Photo Mode is expected sometime in November. Both are planned release windows, not fixed dates.

The developer’s post launch announcement also says more cosmetic pieces for Dylan Faden are planned, though Remedy has not provided a release window or described the items.

Repeatable New Game Plus runs are targeted for October

Players can continue exploring after finishing the main story, including unfinished side quests and World Feats. They can also start New Game Plus. Remedy says the current version permits one additional completion, but the planned update would let players begin another run after that without erasing their progress.

Remedy calls the addition New Game++. Its practical benefit is straightforward: players who want to keep replaying the campaign would no longer have to discard their existing progress to start over again. The studio says the update should arrive in October, but has not announced a specific date.

An earlier Remedy developer post on PlayStation Blog explained that New Game Plus carries over many combat upgrades and unlocks while keeping traversal abilities tied to story progression. The new announcement addresses the limit on successive runs. It does not detail any further changes to what carries over.

Photo Mode is expected in November

Remedy also plans to add Photo Mode, which was absent at launch. The studio says it consulted virtual photographers from the community while developing the feature and prioritized the game’s launch condition before releasing it.

The stated target is sometime in November. Remedy has not shown a complete feature list or given a precise release date. Players who want dedicated capture tools should therefore treat November as the current expectation, subject to a further announcement.

More cosmetics for Dylan are planned for future updates. Remedy has not identified the new pieces, said whether they will be free, or given a timetable. The announcement mentions cosmetics already obtainable in the game separately from those future additions.

These plans give players two reasons to revisit altered Manhattan: continued character progression through successive runs and a dedicated way to capture its environments. Neither update is available on the schedule alone. Remedy’s support center remains the place to check for technical help, while the studio has yet to publish exact dates for New Game++ and Photo Mode.

September 23, 2026: CONTROL Resonant Launches September 24 With New RTX Graphics Features

CONTROL Resonant launched on September 24, and NVIDIA has detailed the graphics features it offers on GeForce RTX PCs in its GeForce article on the game. The game supports path tracing and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, and players with GeForce RTX 50 Series hardware also have access to Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.

Those features offer different benefits, and they do not all require the same graphics card. NVIDIA says Ray Reconstruction works across GeForce RTX generations, while Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is reserved for the RTX 50 Series.

What path tracing changes in CONTROL Resonant

CONTROL Resonant moves the series’ supernatural crisis into a warped Manhattan. NVIDIA says its path tracing features affect how light spreads through streets and interiors, how shadows appear, and what players see reflected on surfaces.

For players, that could make the city’s changing spaces easier to read visually and more convincing in motion. The appearance and performance still depend on the graphics settings and hardware used. NVIDIA’s demonstrations show its own technology under selected conditions; they are not an independent assessment of every PC configuration.

NVIDIA says selecting the game’s Ultra ray tracing preset activates DLSS Ray Reconstruction on supported GeForce RTX hardware. Ray Reconstruction uses image processing to refine the results of path tracing. DLSS Super Resolution is also part of the supported feature set.

Which RTX players get frame generation?

GeForce RTX 50 Series owners can use Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which adjusts its frame generation multiplier toward a selected frame rate target. NVIDIA also lists a fixed mode of up to 6X frame generation.

That distinction matters when reading NVIDIA’s performance figures. Frame generation adds generated frames to the displayed output, so a reported frame rate using that feature should not be treated as the game’s native rendering rate. Players should consider image quality and responsiveness alongside the displayed number.

NVIDIA says a GeForce Game Ready Driver for CONTROL Resonant is already available. PC players planning to use its RTX features should install the current driver before they adjust their graphics settings.

Platforms

Remedy confirmed the September 24 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and NVIDIA's article now says the game is available. The RTX features above apply to the PC version only.

For PC players, the key choice is how far to raise the graphics settings on their own hardware. NVIDIA has confirmed the available RTX features, but how they perform across a wider range of systems is something each player has to test on their own PC.

September 20, 2026: CONTROL Resonant Brings Melee Combat and Warped Manhattan Zones on September 24

Remedy Entertainment is pushing CONTROL Resonant beyond the enclosed corridors of the Oldest House when the sequel launches on September 24, 2026. Dylan Faden replaces Jesse as the playable lead, Manhattan becomes the center of a spreading paranatural disaster, and the familiar blend of supernatural powers and environmental destruction now sits inside a deeper action RPG built heavily around melee combat.

The change is more significant than a larger setting. CONTROL Resonant introduces broader exploration, expanded movement, customizable combat builds, optional missions, and bosses that directly affect Dylan’s growing collection of abilities. Remedy is presenting it as its most expansive game yet, although the studio has been careful not to call it a traditional open world experience.

Manhattan expands the formula without becoming an open world

The first Control used the Oldest House as an endlessly shifting maze of offices, research areas, and impossible architecture. Resonant allows that crisis to escape into Manhattan, where entire streets and buildings have been rearranged by forces that ignore ordinary physics.

According to Remedy’s official gameplay breakdown, Manhattan is divided into large, distinct zones rather than one continuous open world. These areas contain side activities, hidden encounters, optional discoveries, and paths that may become available as Dylan gains new movement abilities.

Gravity Anomalies are one of the clearest examples of the sequel’s expanded scale. Streets can appear above Dylan, buildings can tilt into walkable bridges, and the direction of gravity can change while players navigate an area. Dylan can use supernatural movement abilities to reach these altered surfaces and find routes that would be impossible under normal conditions.

Players will be able to choose between advancing the central story, searching for Jesse, or pursuing optional assignments. A recent PlayStation Blog preview also describes smaller environmental stories in which Dylan reconstructs memories with objects found nearby. These moments appear designed to reveal more about his past without separating character development from exploration.

Dylan brings a different kind of movement and personality

Dylan spent years under the control of the Federal Bureau of Control. Unlike Jesse, who entered the Oldest House determined to find answers, he begins this story after prolonged confinement and must learn how to function in a city that is collapsing around him.

His movement reflects the demands of the larger environment. Dylan can double jump, levitate, dash through the air, and eventually use abilities such as Reach to cross wider spaces. His animations also emphasize that he is not a polished superhero. Long falls can leave him stumbling rather than landing with effortless precision.

Zoe De Vera, an FBC field agent, acts as Dylan’s handler and provides information during missions. Players will also encounter selected dialogue choices, although Remedy has not presented the game as a fully branching narrative RPG. Based on the currently available information, these choices appear intended to shape Dylan’s responses and personality rather than create completely separate storylines.

Jesse remains central to the plot, but Remedy has confirmed that this is Dylan’s journey. His search for his sister runs alongside the larger struggle to contain the Hiss, the Mold, and a new cosmic force affecting Manhattan.

The Aberrant moves combat into close range

CONTROL Resonant makes its largest mechanical departure through the Aberrant, Dylan’s transforming melee weapon. Confirmed forms include Hammer, Blades, Scythe, and Fists, with additional forms still being kept secret.

Each form supports a different rhythm. The Hammer delivers heavier attacks, while the Blades favor faster strikes. Players can equip selected weapon forms and supernatural abilities before combat, then develop them through skill trees and specialized upgrades.

The recent preview also identifies effects such as burn and infect, improvements to combo finishers, and abilities that can produce shields, projectile attacks, or temporary allies assembled from environmental debris. Using these powers consumes energy, while landing melee attacks helps restore it. That creates a combat loop that encourages players to remain aggressive while still managing positioning and defensive movement.

Resonants serve as major boss encounters and an important part of progression. Remedy says each defeated Resonant awards a new combat ability, meaning these fights provide more than a conventional story checkpoint. The bosses are described as corrupted remains of people who once possessed considerable power.

The visual design is also leaning further into the disturbing side of Control. The PlayStation preview describes one encounter involving an enormous porcelain face attacking Dylan with pieces of Manhattan. Other confrontations may abandon the structure of a traditional boss battle entirely.

The horror is no longer contained inside one building

Moving outside the Oldest House could have weakened the sense of confinement that defined the first game. Remedy appears to be approaching that challenge by making Manhattan itself unstable.

Horror can now arrive through sudden changes in architecture, hostile announcements, distorted vehicles, hallucinations, and enemies large enough to shake the surrounding environment. The wider spaces give players more freedom, but they also allow threats to appear from rooftops, streets, elevated structures, and surfaces that no longer follow a reliable orientation.

That approach suggests Resonant is expanding the physical scale of Control without abandoning its central fear: reality can change without warning, and the organizations responsible for containing it may no longer be capable of doing so.

What players should know before September 24

  • CONTROL Resonant launches digitally on September 24, 2026.

  • Confirmed launch platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW.

  • The Mac version is scheduled to follow through Steam and the App Store later in 2026.

  • The game is a single-player action-adventure RPG developed and published by Remedy Entertainment.

  • The US PlayStation Store lists the Standard Edition at $59.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $69.99.

  • The PlayStation Digital Deluxe Edition includes 48-hour early access, an outfit, an artifact, a starter resource bundle, a digital artbook, and the soundtrack.

Edition benefits, prices, and unlock schedules can differ by platform and region. Players should verify the listing shown by their chosen storefront before purchasing.

CONTROL Resonant represents a deliberate change of direction rather than a safe repeat of the 2019 game. Its larger zones, melee focused combat, expanded movement, and more flexible progression could give players considerably more freedom, while its distorted version of Manhattan gives Remedy room to make the paranatural crisis feel less contained.

The game arrives on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Mac players will receive their version later in 2026, although Remedy has not announced a specific Mac release date.

September 17, 2026: Control Resonant Launch Trailer Sends Dylan Faden Into a Warped Manhattan

Remedy Entertainment has released the official Control Resonant launch trailer, delivering another concentrated look at Dylan Faden’s battle through a Manhattan reshaped by forces that no longer follow ordinary physical rules.

The trailer arrives one week before the game’s worldwide release on September 24, 2026. It combines rapid close combat, supernatural abilities, collapsing environments, and brief story exchanges with The Cardigans’ “My Favourite Game” driving the action.

It does not introduce a new release date or platform. Instead, the trailer serves as Remedy’s final major reminder of how different this sequel will be from the original Control.

Dylan Faden takes control of the crisis

Control Resonant moves Jesse Faden’s brother into the leading role. Dylan spent much of the first game under the influence of the Hiss, but the sequel places him at the center of a new supernatural emergency spreading across Manhattan.

Brief exchanges between Dylan and Zoe give the trailer a more personal edge. Their conversation focuses on saving the city and Dylan’s reasons for remaining in the fight, suggesting that his search for Jesse is only one part of the larger crisis.

Remedy has confirmed that Jesse is missing as the story begins. A new form of resonance is warping Manhattan alongside threats connected to the Hiss and the Mold, forcing Dylan into a role he was never prepared to accept.

The launch trailer keeps the exact nature of this new cosmic force hidden. It also avoids revealing Jesse’s location or how her disappearance connects to the continuing transformation of the city.

Manhattan becomes a close combat playground

The footage continues to emphasize the sequel’s aggressive combat direction. Dylan uses the Aberrant, a shape shifting melee weapon, alongside paranormal abilities that can interrupt enemies, control space, and create opportunities for powerful attacks.

This represents a major change from Jesse’s gun focused fighting style in Control. Resonant is being presented as an action role-playing game with greater emphasis on character builds, equipment choices, exploration, and close combat.

Rather than describing Manhattan as one continuous conventional open world, Remedy has divided it into large and visually distinct zones. These locations contain optional activities, hidden encounters, and discoveries outside the main story.

Players can also enter the Gap, a space within Dylan’s mind where abilities and the Aberrant can be upgraded. The Gap provides an area for testing builds and crafting Artifacts before returning to the altered city.

The result appears designed to give players more control over how Dylan fights without abandoning the environmental destruction and supernatural spectacle associated with Remedy’s earlier work.

Control Resonant arrives on September 24

Remedy has confirmed a September 24 worldwide release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. GeForce NOW support is also planned at launch.

A Mac version is scheduled to arrive later in 2026 through Steam and the App Store. Remedy has not announced an exact Mac release date.

On PlayStation 5, Performance mode targets 60 frames per second at 1440p, while Quality mode targets 30 frames per second at 2160p. Remedy’s official PlayStation 5 technical overview also confirms adaptive trigger support and compatible headset support for 3D Audio.

The launch trailer does not resolve the mystery surrounding Jesse or the force consuming Manhattan. Those answers remain part of Dylan’s journey when Control Resonant launches on September 24.

NEXTARCA's take

CONTROL Resonant took a real risk by trading Jesse's gunplay for close combat in an open, broken Manhattan, and Remedy's support since launch suggests it wants players to stay. Update 1.4.0's unlimited New Game++ gives the systems room to breathe, and Remedy has said Photo Mode is expected in November. If you held off at launch, the game is in a more complete state now than it was in September.
