Capcom has released a new main trailer for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, revealing more of the expansion’s story and confirming the return of the Evil Eye from the original game. The footage places the Fallen Dragon’s missing heart at the center of the conflict while offering another look at Norgan, the frozen region players will explore when the expansion arrives on October 9, 2026.
The trailer gives the expansion a clearer narrative direction than its initial reveal. Eir is determined to destroy the Fallen Dragon, but the creature presents an unusual problem. Its chest contains an empty cavity where its heart should be, yet it remains alive and capable of recovering from seemingly fatal damage.
The Fallen Dragon’s missing heart becomes a central mystery
The new footage indicates that the Fallen Dragon’s heart still exists but is being held by another dangerous figure. The Arisen’s journey may therefore involve more than finding and defeating the dragon itself. Recovering the heart and identifying the person controlling it appear to be important parts of the new story.
Capcom has not revealed the identity of the person holding the heart or explained what that character ultimately wants. It is also unclear whether returning the heart would weaken the Fallen Dragon, restore it, or trigger another stage of the conflict.
Eir appears closely connected to the disaster that left Norgan abandoned, but the full extent of her history and her relationship with the Fallen Dragon remain undisclosed. The official description confirms that the Arisen will work with her while investigating the creature and the ruined northern territory.
Evil Eye returns from the original Dragon’s Dogma
The trailer also confirms the return of the Evil Eye, a large floating monster recognizable by its central eye and mass of tentacles. The creature appeared in the original Dragon’s Dogma and was associated with some of that game’s more dangerous encounters.
Its inclusion gives returning players another direct connection to the first game, but Capcom has not explained how it fits into the expansion. The trailer does not establish whether the Evil Eye will appear as a major boss, a recurring enemy, or part of the Fallen Dragon storyline.
Its return nevertheless suggests that Norgan and the expansion’s dungeon content will draw more heavily from the darker monster designs associated with the original Dark Arisen release.
Norgan adds relic hunting and new dungeon challenges
Dark Arisen will take players into Norgan, a frozen region shaped by an earlier catastrophe. The expansion introduces a relic system in which items can be recovered from defeated monsters or discovered while exploring. These relics must be appraised before their properties are revealed, with new weapons and skills among the possible rewards.
Capcom is also adding twelve Lost Rites dungeons across Vermund and Battahl. These challenges contain rare equipment connected to previous Arisen and are designed to give players additional combat objectives outside Norgan.
A Tokyo Game Show 2026 demo reported by GosuGamers moved from snowy mountains and undead enemies into an underground encounter with a damaged dragon. This preview offers an early indication of how exploration, dungeon combat, and the expansion’s darker creatures may connect, although the final experience could differ from the event build.
