The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED is giving it to existing owners on qualifying platforms as a free upgrade, and every current owner of The Witcher 3 also has Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no extra cost.
For anyone who has put the game down, this is a straightforward reason to return to Geralt's story: the full game, both expansions and a round of changes to how it looks and plays, without paying again on the same platform.
When Remastered unlocked
The remaster unlocked at the same moment worldwide on September 29, 2026, at 10:00 UTC. In local time, that was:
Asia: 6:00 PM in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore and Manila; 7:00 PM in Tokyo and Seoul
Oceania: 8:00 PM in Sydney; 11:00 PM in Auckland
Europe: 11:00 AM in London; 12:00 PM in Warsaw and Berlin
Americas: 6:00 AM Eastern; 3:00 AM Pacific
Who gets it for free
On PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Remastered arrives as an update to the copy you already own. PC owners on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store qualify. Battle.net joins as a new storefront for The Witcher 3 on the same day, through a partnership between CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment.
Switch 2 works differently. It gets a native version that is a separate download with its own icon on the Home menu. If you own The Witcher 3 on the original Switch, you can claim the Switch 2 version for free: digital owners could already add it on the Nintendo eShop, and owners of a physical copy can claim it from launch day.
How big the download is
CD PROJEKT RED put the update at about 45 GB on PC, PS5 and Xbox. On Steam the exact figure depends on your installed language packs. The Switch 2 version needs about 50 GB, because it is a full game rather than an update.
What changes in Remastered
The studio's list of changes covers upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new effects for witcher signs, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behavior, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishers. CD PROJEKT RED is developing Remastered together with Yigsoft, a team that has worked on The Witcher 3 before.
Your saves carry over, your skills reset
According to CD PROJEKT RED support, existing saves should load without issues. Your skills and settings will be reset because of the skill tree changes, and you can reallocate the points right away. Achievements and trophies are shared with the current version, so anything you have already unlocked stays unlocked.
The free expansions are not new today. They reached current owners before launch, and NEXTARCA covered that change in an earlier article.
What comes next
The next piece of new content is Songs of the Past, a paid expansion set in a new region called Letten. CD PROJEKT RED is making it with Fool's Theory, a studio led by Witcher 3 veterans. It is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 in 2027, and it can already be added to wishlists. Buying it on Battle.net also unlocks a skin inspired by Geralt in Diablo 4. CD PROJEKT RED has not announced a release date or a price for it yet.
