Tales of Eternia Remastered is out now. Bandai Namco confirmed the launch on 16 October 2026 in its release announcement, together with a launch trailer. The remaster is available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam.

The original Tales of Eternia came out in 2001. North American players may know it better as Tales of Destiny II, the name it carried there at the time.

When it unlocked

Bandai Namco's earlier Steam notice gave the Steam unlock as 3:00 PM PDT on 15 October. That is the same moment as:

  • 6:00 AM on 16 October in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei (GMT+8), and 7:00 AM in Seoul and Tokyo (GMT+9)
  • Midnight going into 16 October in Central Europe (CEST), and 11:00 PM on 15 October in London (BST)
  • 6:00 PM on 15 October in New York (EDT), and 3:00 PM in Los Angeles (PDT)

So it was 15 October in the US and the UK, and 16 October in continental Europe and Asia. Bandai Namco did not post separate unlock times for the console versions.

What the remaster changes

The story is the one fans remember. Reid, Farah, Keele and Meredy travel between two worlds, Inferia and Celestia, trying to stop a disaster called the Grand Fall. The changes are mostly about comfort and choice:

  • Graphics Mode and SFX Mode let you swap between the remastered look and sound effects and the originals.
  • Boost changes how much experience you earn and how often you run into enemies.
  • Battle Retry and Quick Recovery cut down on lost time after a bad fight.
  • Auto mode now has a high speed option in battle, and destination icons can be turned on or off.
  • Extreme difficulty is open from the start, and an Unknown difficulty unlocks once you finish the game.

The Deluxe Edition on Steam

On Steam, Bandai Namco also sells a Deluxe Edition. On top of the game it adds a digital artbook with setting material and illustrations, a digital soundtrack with all 109 background music tracks, a Battle BGM pack that swaps the normal battle music for tracks from earlier Tales games, and a Super Growth Support Item Set that raises character stats. The announcements we read do not give worldwide prices, and they do not say whether the same edition is sold on consoles.

NEXTARCA's take

Releasing on every current platform at once matters more here than any single feature, because it puts a 2001 Tales game within easy reach on whatever hardware players own today. The option to switch between remastered and original graphics and sound is a smart, respectful touch for longtime fans.

The Boost and Battle Retry options make it easier to recommend to newcomers who are put off by old school encounter rates. Be careful with the stat boosting items in the Deluxe Edition, though. They can flatten a battle system that is at its best when it pushes back.
