KRAFTON introduced TARAE: The Unbound at Gamescom 2026 with an official reveal trailer presenting its Eastern dark fantasy setting and action RPG combat. Developed by Boundary, the game centers on six Seekers and a journey through a world whose cycle of reincarnation has been broken. Its official listings describe fights against groups of enemies alongside boss encounters that require players to read attack patterns.
The reveal took place during Gamescom’s August 2026 coverage. KRAFTON also presented the game during Opening Night Live, giving players an early look at its world and gameplay. There is currently no announced release date on its Steam or PlayStation listings.
Six Seekers enter a fractured world
TARAE is set on Taegwido, an island formed after the boundaries between the Six Realms collapsed. Players take the role of one of six Seekers, whose individual motives feed into a shared story. Their stated objective is to recover the Sources needed to restore the cycle of reincarnation.
That premise gives the game more to establish than its combat style. Boundary describes distinct approaches for its classes, including blades, firearms, martial techniques, and spirit based abilities. The Steam listing also outlines builds formed through skills, traits, and equipment. How different those choices feel across a full campaign has yet to be demonstrated in a released game.
Combat combines crowd fights with boss patterns
The announced combat design puts two demands on players. Against groups, the emphasis is on combining skills and attacks to clear space. Against bosses, Boundary says players will need to recognize patterns, respond to battlefield mechanics, and choose when to evade or counter. Those are the developer’s descriptions of the intended experience, rather than conclusions from a finished version.
For action RPG players, the question raised by the reveal is how well those two kinds of encounters work with six different character builds. The setting and class concepts are established; the trailer is an introduction to them, not a measure of the game’s final balance or depth.
Store listings are live, with launch details still open
TARAE: The Unbound has official listings on Steam and the PlayStation Store. Steam lists single player and online cooperative play, though it does not specify a cooperative player limit. Its PC system requirement fields remain unfilled, and neither store gives a release date.
Players can wishlist the game on either store while waiting for launch details. For now, the confirmed picture is a Boundary action RPG published by KRAFTON, built around six Seekers, flexible builds, and a world drawn from Eastern myth and folklore. A release date, PC specifications, and further details of online play still need official confirmation.
