Four MMORPGs that NEXTARCA covers are planned for 2027, and between them they cover almost every kind of online RPG: a new expansion for one of the biggest MMORPGs running, a big budget open world launch from Korea, a sci-fi MMORPG built on a famous PlayStation world, and a small sandbox game run by live game masters. None of them has an exact release date yet, but each has a window.
Here is what each one is and when it is expected. This list covers the MMORPGs on NEXTARCA right now, and we add new ones as they are announced.
Last updated: October 19, 2026.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: Evercold (planned for January 2027)
Evercold is the sixth expansion for FINAL FANTASY XIV, announced by Square Enix in April 2026. It raises the level cap to 110 and adds two new jobs, including the Bastion, a tank that fights with two shields. A new alliance raid series is a crossover with Neon Genesis Evangelion. It comes to every platform the game is on: PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Chrono Odyssey (second quarter of 2027)
Chrono Studio's open world fantasy MMORPG, published by Kakao Games, takes place in the ruined world of Setera, where players can bend time to change fights and the world around them. After feedback from its 2025 beta the launch slipped more than once, and Kakao Games' earnings materials for the second quarter of 2026 now place it in the second quarter of 2027. It is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the official site carries the latest news.

Horizon Steel Frontiers (first half of 2027)
NCSOFT is building an MMORPG set in the Horizon universe, the world of machines and tribes known from Guerrilla's PlayStation games. It is planned for PC and mobile, and NCSOFT has said it will launch in the first half of 2027. Regions, pricing and system requirements are not confirmed yet.
Eternal Tombs (early 2027)
Triune Studios is making a free to play sandbox MMORPG for PC. The hook is its live staff, called Tomb Masters, who run events and change the world while you play. You can run a shop, craft, raid dungeons, defend castles in sieges and join ranked PvP if you opt in. The studio is aiming for a full launch in early 2027, and you can follow it on its Steam page.

The 2027 MMORPG list at a glance
Window | Game | Platforms |
|---|---|---|
January 2027 (planned) | PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch | |
Early 2027 | PC | |
Second quarter of 2027 | PC, PlayStation, Xbox | |
First half of 2027 | PC, Mobile |
Every date here is a window, not a day. When a studio sets one, our upcoming games calendar shows it straight away, with the date for players around the world.
NEXTARCA's take
Evercold is the safest pick of the four: it builds on an established game with a clear plan, and the Bastion's two shield style gives tank players a real reason to come back. Chrono Odyssey is the biggest question mark. The time bending idea stood out in its beta, and the move to 2027 after player feedback means the next test has to show clearly what changed.
Horizon Steel Frontiers has the best known world of the group, yet it is the one we know least about, with no regions or business model confirmed. Eternal Tombs is the small one to watch if you miss old school sandbox games where the world can change in an evening.
