2027 is already shaping up as a huge year for RPGs. NEXTARCA covers 37 RPGs that are due next year, and 18 of them already have a release date. The first quarter alone holds a new Fable, a new God of War and a Persona remake, and the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake trilogy ends in April.
Below are the big releases first, then every other 2027 RPG we cover, with dates where the publishers have given them. Dates are the day each game unlocks in Asia. Where the US store shows an earlier day, we list both. This list covers the games on NEXTARCA right now, and we add new ones as they are announced.

The big RPGs of 2027
STRANGER THAN HEAVEN (January 15, January 14 in the US)
RGG Studio, the team behind Like a Dragon, has one of the first big releases of the year: a new action adventure RPG. You follow Makoto Daito across fifty years and five cities of modern Japan, starting in 1915, as he fights to survive and builds a name as a showman. It comes to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
God of War Laufey (February 16)
Santa Monica Studio gives the series a new lead: Faye, the late wife of Kratos. She wakes in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods, and fights her way home with Jotnar magic and a whip-like sword. It is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. We covered the date in our release date story.

Persona 4 Revival (February 18, February 17 in the US)
ATLUS is remaking Persona 4, the turn-based RPG about a transfer student who investigates a string of murders in a rural Japanese town while building bonds with friends. It is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the official SEGA page has the details.
Fable (February 23)
Playground Games is rebooting Fable as an open world fantasy RPG set in Albion. You become the first Hero in a generation, fight bandits, Balverines and Trolls with steel, bows and magic, and shape your reputation through your choices, your home and your family. It launches on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with more on the official Fable site.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember (March 4)
Team NINJA returns to the Three Kingdoms in 208 AD with a dark fantasy action RPG built on deflection combat, Martial Arts and Insight Skills. You can capture strongholds on battlefields such as Changban and the Red Cliffs, alone or in online co-op. It comes to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

EXODUS (April 7)
Archetype Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast are making a single player science fiction action RPG. You rise from salvager to Traveler and journey to distant worlds in search of what humanity needs to survive, in a universe shaped by the way time passes between the stars. It launches on PC and consoles.
FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION (April 8)
The final chapter of the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake trilogy sends Cloud and his friends after Sephiroth as Meteor threatens the planet, with the Highwind to cross the world. Cid and Vincent join the party, and combat still mixes real time action with tactical commands, materia and summons. It comes to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, as Square Enix announced.

KINGDOM HEARTS IV (2027, no date yet)
The next mainline KINGDOM HEARTS starts the Lost Master Arc. Sora wakes in Quadratum, a realistic city modeled on Tokyo, while Donald and Goofy search the Underworld. Switching between Keyblades opens different moves, and the Coco world from Pixar is confirmed. It is listed for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves (2027, no date yet)
The tenth Pokemon generation arrives as two versions from Game Freak for Nintendo Switch 2. They are open world RPGs set across windswept islands and a wide ocean. Nintendo has not given an exact date yet.

NEXTARCA's take
February is the month to watch. God of War Laufey, Persona 4 Revival and Fable land within eight days of each other, with Romancing SaGa 3 and Atelier Karia right next to them. A month that crowded rarely stays that way, so do not be surprised if one of them moves. If you only plan for one big purchase in the first half of the year, FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION is the safest bet: it finishes a story players have followed since 2020, and Square Enix has already set the date.
For something new rather than a sequel, keep an eye on EXODUS and STRANGER THAN HEAVEN. Both come from experienced teams trying fresh worlds, and both have firm dates on the store pages.
