September 2026 is turning into an unusually busy month for MMORPG players. Some of the biggest names on the horizon are preparing for launch, others are opening their doors for limited tests, and several long-term projects are finally becoming easier to track.

The most important distinction is that this is a September watchlist, not a list of eight games all releasing this month. AION 2 and Architect: Land of Exiles have immediate September activity, ArcheAge Chronicles is preparing a network test, while games such as Guild Wars 3 and Chrono Odyssey remain further away.

For players deciding where to spend their time, or which games deserve a spot on the wishlist, these are eight upcoming MMORPGs NEXTARCA believes are worth keeping on the radar this September.

September 2026 MMORPG Dates to Know

Before diving into the full list, these are some of the most important dates currently confirmed:

  • September 12 and 13: ArcheAge Chronicles Network Test for selected Steam players in the United States and Canada.

  • September 16: Architect: Land of Exiles is scheduled to arrive through its expanded overseas release, with the Philippine App Store also listing September 16 as its expected date.

  • September 17 and 19: AION 2 is holding launch-scale testing ahead of release.

  • September 30: AION 2 Founder’s Pack advance access begins.

  • October 1: Monsters & Memories enters Early Access.

  • October 2026: Eternal Tombs plans to make a playable demo available.

1. AION 2

Few MMORPGs have a more important September ahead of them than AION 2.

NC’s sequel is now officially scheduled to launch on October 5, 2026, but September is effectively the beginning of its launch campaign. A launch-scale test is planned during the month, while players purchasing qualifying Founder’s Packs can enter through advance access beginning September 30.

AION 2 is being built around one of the original game’s most recognizable ideas: flight. NC describes its world as being designed vertically, with aerial movement influencing exploration and combat rather than functioning only as transportation. The PC MMORPG is built with Unreal Engine 5 and includes faction conflict, PvE, online co-op and PvP.

For MMO players searching for a large new free-to-play release, AION 2 is arguably the most immediate game to follow this month.

Current status: Launch October 5, 2026
September milestone: Launch-scale testing and September 30 advance access
Platform: PC

2. Architect: Land of Exiles

Architect: Land of Exiles has one major advantage over most games on this list: players may not have to wait much longer.

The overseas version is preparing for its September rollout, with official server and character-name reservations running through September 13. Apple’s Philippine storefront currently lists an expected September 16, 2026 release.

Developed around a seamless fantasy world, Architect combines open-world exploration with non-target combat, PvE activities, PvP and large-scale encounters. Its official international website also highlights gathering, trading and persistent-world progression.

For players in supported regions, Architect could become one of September’s most immediately playable MMORPG releases rather than another game waiting somewhere on a distant roadmap.

Current status: Overseas rollout approaching
Expected date: September 16, 2026
Platforms: Mobile storefronts are confirmed in supported markets

3. ArcheAge Chronicles

ArcheAge Chronicles suddenly became much more relevant to the September conversation after XLGAMES announced a new network test.

The test is scheduled for September 12 at 7:00 PM EDT through September 13 at 1:00 AM EDT and is intended to evaluate network and server stability. Access is limited to selected Steam users in the United States and Canada, and the build is explicitly described as an early development version.

The full game remains without a confirmed release date. Its current Steam listing describes an open-world online RPG with PvE, PvP, cooperative play, trading, housing, farming, crafting and action-focused combat built around movement, blocking, dodging and parrying.

That makes September less about launch hype and more about something equally important: seeing the infrastructure of the next ArcheAge project tested in public.

Current status: Release date TBA
September milestone: Network Test
Planned platforms: PC, PlayStation and Xbox storefronts are currently linked through the official site.

4. Monsters & Memories

Not every upcoming MMORPG is chasing cinematic action combat or massive production values.

Monsters & Memories is deliberately targeting players who miss the slower, socially driven design of older MMORPGs. The game is now scheduled to enter Early Access on October 1, 2026, making September its final countdown month.

The developers say Early Access will launch with its core gameplay systems in place and with Module 1: Descent into the Deep included. Four starting locations are planned, and the business model is unusually straightforward: $15 per month, no box price and no in-game microtransactions.

Players looking for an old-school MMORPG built around grouping, exploration and long-term character progression should keep this one particularly close on the radar.

Current status: Approaching Early Access
Early Access: October 1, 2026
Platform: PC

5. Guild Wars 3

Guild Wars 3 is nowhere near a September 2026 release, but leaving it out of an upcoming-MMORPG watchlist would ignore one of the biggest new MMO projects currently in development.

ArenaNet has confirmed that betas are planned to begin in Fall 2027. The game is being positioned as an action-adventure MMORPG with a significantly more movement-driven approach than its predecessors, including gliding, riding, jumping and wall-running that can flow directly into combat.

The setting takes players to an ancient version of Orr more than a thousand years before the original Guild Wars. ArenaNet has also confirmed plans for a day-one presence across Steam, PlayStation 5 and its standalone PC ecosystem.

This is a long-term watch rather than a game you will be playing next week, but Guild Wars 3 could become one of the defining MMORPG releases of the next few years.

Current status: In development
Beta target: Fall 2027
Planned platforms: PC, Steam and PlayStation 5

6. Chrono Odyssey

Chrono Odyssey remains one of the most visually ambitious MMORPG projects on the horizon, and also one of the hardest to put on a calendar.

Its Steam page still lists the release date as To Be Announced, so players should be cautious about unofficial launch predictions. What is confirmed is a large seamless open world, action-oriented combat, PvE and PvP support, character customization and a time-manipulation system central to its fantasy identity.

Chrono Studio is developing the game with Kakao Games publishing, and Unreal Engine 5 is being used for its world and visual presentation.

Until an official release window appears, Chrono Odyssey belongs firmly in the “watch closely, but do not mark the calendar yet” category.

Current status: In development
Release date: Not officially confirmed
Platform: PC confirmed through Steam

7. Eternal Tombs

Eternal Tombs is taking a very different approach to making an MMO world feel alive.

Its signature concept is the use of human staff known as Tomb Masters, who can influence events and dynamically alter parts of the player experience. Alongside that system, the game is being developed as a persistent-world MMORPG with action combat, crafting, player shops, castle defense, PvP and raiding.

The project is currently targeting a full launch in early 2027, with the developers explicitly stating that they do not plan to use Early Access for the final release. Before then, a playable demo is scheduled for October 2026.

That makes September a useful time to start paying attention, especially for players interested in smaller MMORPG projects experimenting with live world management.

Current status: In development
Demo: October 2026
Full launch target: Early 2027
Platform: PC

8. Bellatores

Bellatores is an open-world medieval MMORPG built around conflict between noble houses.

Instead of a traditional fantasy theme centered entirely on monsters and quests, its core identity revolves around political rivalry, territorial competition, gathering, exploration and action combat. Steam currently lists the game as Coming Soon.

An official regional FAQ continues to reference a 2026 release target and describes Bellatores as a free-to-play Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG, but there is still no fixed launch day on Steam. That means the 2026 window should be treated as a development target rather than a guaranteed date.

For players interested in large-scale faction or house warfare, Bellatores remains one of the projects worth tracking as 2026 moves toward its final months.

Current status: Coming Soon
Release window: 2026 target, exact date unconfirmed
Platform: PC

Which Upcoming MMORPG Should You Watch First?

If you want something with an immediate date attached to it, Architect: Land of Exiles and AION 2 deserve the closest attention. Architect is preparing for its September 16 rollout, while AION 2 moves through testing and Founder’s Pack advance access before its October 5 launch.

ArcheAge Chronicles is also particularly interesting this month because players will finally begin stressing its network infrastructure through a limited North American test. Meanwhile, Monsters & Memories is only weeks away from Early Access.

The rest of the list represents the longer game. Guild Wars 3, Chrono Odyssey, Eternal Tombs and Bellatores could all become major parts of the MMO conversation later, but their timelines remain much less immediate.

September 2026 may not deliver every major MMORPG players are waiting for, but it is giving the genre something it badly needs: movement. Launches are getting closer, tests are opening, and several major projects are finally becoming more concrete.

NEXTARCA will continue tracking confirmed dates, tests and release changes as developers update their plans.
