Goblins, Taoist magic and a whole lot of pixels. World of Dokkaebi, the new MMORPG from developer Supercat and publisher Kakao Games, launches today, October 8, 2026, on mobile and PC. Inven Global reports that the servers open at 11:00 AM.
There is one catch for most of our readers, and it is better to say it early: this is a South Korea only launch. Korean coverage describes October 8 as the start of domestic service, and the game’s App Store listing appears only in the Korean store. Kakao Games has not announced a global or English version yet.
What kind of game is it?
Picture a classic 2D pixel art character walking through a fully 3D world. That mix, which the developers call 2.5D, is the first thing you notice, and it gives the game a look that most modern MMORPGs do not have.
The setting comes from Korean folklore. You play a Dosa, a Taoist adept, in a world of dokkaebi (Korean goblins) and restless spirits. The story is based on a Korean web novel that also runs as a webtoon on Naver.
No classes, just your own build
This is the part MMORPG players will care about most. World of Dokkaebi has no fixed classes. Instead, you pick from 12 types of magic, called dosul, and combine their skills into your own fighting style. If you get bored of your build, you change the skills, not the character.
A few other things stand out from what Kakao Games has shown so far:
An AI helper. A chatbot named Myorong looks at how you have been playing and suggests what to work on next.
Cosmetics without stats. In the game’s live demo, the developers said outfits and mounts carry no stat bonuses.
No player killing in the open field. PvP exists, but it lives in dedicated battlefields, according to The Elec.
Clan content and offline progress. The store description lists cooperative clan activities and growth that continues while you are logged out.
Interest at home is already high
Korean players seem ready. Inven Global notes that character name reservations filled up within hours, more than once, and that Kakao Games added three servers to keep up.
Can you play it outside Korea?
Not officially, for now. The official website and both store listings are aimed at Korean players, and nothing has been said about other regions. We will update our World of Dokkaebi game page if that changes.
So here is our question for you: if World of Dokkaebi came to your region, would you play it? And would you pick a classless MMORPG over a traditional one? Tell us in the comments.
