Your Wo Long 2 Character Could Become an Official Preset

The limited alpha demo for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is now available, giving players an early opportunity to experience its combat, open battlefield design, cooperative multiplayer, and character creation system. Team NINJA has also launched a contest that could place six player designed characters into the full game as official appearance templates.

The demo is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam until September 30, 2026. The Steam listing specifies that access ends at 15:00 UTC on that date, after which the demo can no longer be downloaded or played.

An internet connection is required, including for players who intend to experience the demo alone. Nintendo Switch 2 is among the platforms announced for the complete game, but it is not listed as an eligible alpha demo or contest platform.

The alpha demo visits the battlefield of Changban

The playable build includes part of the Changban stage and introduces the sequel’s expanded approach to movement and combat. Players can use Deflect actions, multiple weapons, Martial Arts techniques, and Insight Skills to respond to enemy attacks or use the surrounding environment during encounters.

Character creation and cooperative multiplayer are also available in the demo. This makes the early build more than a combat showcase, since players can test how custom characters appear during gameplay and join other players online.

Completing the demo by defeating Wuzhiqi awards the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for use in the full release. Players must use the same account and play the final game on the device containing their demo save data to receive the equipment.

Koei Tecmo is also collecting feedback through a survey accessible from within the demo. The company says responses will be reviewed during development, although it has not promised that any particular suggestion will be implemented.

Six player creations will become official appearance templates

The Alpha Demo Character Creation Contest asks players to design an original character using the tools included in the demo. Six submissions will be selected by the development team.

Each winning design is planned to become an appearance template inside the full version of Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember. The six winners will also receive a name credit in the game’s end credits.

To enter, players must:

1. Follow the official Wo Long account on X.

2. Create a character inside the alpha demo.

3. Generate a Character Creation Code through the Save and Additional Features menu.

4. Capture a screenshot clearly showing both the character and the selected creation code.

5. Publish the screenshot on X using the hashtag #WoLong2Code.

The submitting X account must be public so the development team can view the post. Entrants should also avoid overwriting the submitted Character Creation Code, as doing so will invalidate the entry.

The application period runs until September 30, 2026. The official announcement does not provide a precise closing time for contest submissions, so players should avoid waiting until the final hours.

Entrants should review the ownership terms

The contest rules contain conditions that creators should understand before entering. Designs that include protected third party characters, personal information, discriminatory material, commercial content, or other prohibited material can be removed from consideration.

The terms also state that intellectual property rights connected with submitted designs transfer to Koei Tecmo when an entry is submitted. Submitted designs may be used in promotional or advertising material even if they are not selected as winners.

Winners will be contacted through a direct message on X and asked to provide a credit name written using the Roman alphabet. A winner may use a full name, pen name, or online handle, but failing to provide the requested information before the company’s deadline could result in the prize being withdrawn.

Koei Tecmo also reserves the right to modify or cancel the inclusion of a winning preset or credit if development requirements, specification changes, or other unavoidable circumstances make implementation impractical.

Wo Long 2 arrives in March 2027

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is scheduled for release on March 4, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The sequel returns to a dark fantasy interpretation of the Three Kingdoms and follows a warrior possessing the power of the phoenix. Its larger open fields include locations based on Changban and the Battle of the Red Cliffs, with enemy bases, demons, historical warriors, and different routes across each battlefield.

Players interested in either the demo completion reward or the character contest must participate before access closes on September 30. Contest results will be announced through the official Wo Long account on X and the official Wo Long 2 website.
