God of War Laufey preorders open September 29, Digital Deluxe contents revealed

PlayStation has set a 10 a.m. local time preorder start for its upcoming PS5 game. The announcement details purchase bonuses, the Digital Deluxe Edition and how Faye’s new bow can be customized.

PlayStation says God of War Laufey preorders open September 29 at 10 a.m. local time. The game is scheduled to launch on PS5 on February 16, 2027. Santa Monica Studio’s announcement also identifies the preorder bonuses and what comes with the Digital Deluxe Edition.

What comes with a preorder?

Purchasing before launch adds the Last Wish Armor Set, the cosmetic Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance and a resource pack. PlayStation says the bonus for a physical Standard Edition is supplied through a download code that requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The marked armor and appearance items unlock through story progression.

The Digital Deluxe Edition lists seven items: the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Blade, Bow Scales and Catalyst, plus a resource pack, digital mini artbook and official digital soundtrack. PlayStation did not give prices in the announcement.

Why the bow gear matters

The Bow Scales are more than a visual option, according to Santa Monica Studio. Different Scales change the Serpent Bow’s appearance and provide a perk suited to a particular playstyle. The studio also says Faye’s armor affects stats and perks, giving players a reason to examine the gear included in each edition.

The new combat details describe a precision aim mode for targeted shots and a more mobile mode for firing at close range. PlayStation has not specified the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales’ particular perk or whether the Deluxe gear can be obtained separately. Regional prices and storefront availability also remain to be checked when preorders open.

Santa Monica Studio's next mainline entry launches on PS5 on February 16, 2027. Faye, Kratos' late wife, takes the lead. After her death she awakens in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods, and fights to return home with Jötnar magic and a whip like sword.

Opening preorders more than four months before launch, with no prices in the announcement, makes the edition list hard to judge. The more useful news is in the gear: Bow Scales that change both the look of the bow and its perk suggest that equipment will shape how Faye plays. We would wait for regional prices before choosing an edition.
