Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that Jin Sakai will be the fourth playable character in Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, a new single-player combat survival mode arriving with the game’s Complete Edition content. The Ghost of Tsushima protagonist keeps all four of his original sword stances, along with familiar tools and abilities adapted for a replayable, roguelike-inspired format, according to the official September 3 announcement.
The reveal gives Jin a defined combat role rather than treating him as a cosmetic cameo. Most Wanted will let players choose among Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato and Jin, then develop different builds while working through escalating bounty runs. The mode is included with Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition or its paid upgrade for existing owners.
Jin retains his Ghost of Tsushima combat identity
Jin enters Most Wanted with a katana and the four stances he used to counter different enemy types in Ghost of Tsushima. His starting equipment also includes a Sticky Bomb and a hankyu, or short bow.
His Ultimate is Dance of Wrath, which targets and disarms multiple enemies. Building a Kill Streak gives Jin access to Ghost Stance, terrifying nearby opponents and allowing him to eliminate a limited number of them with single strikes. Sucker Punch also says its character art and animation teams updated Jin’s original model for Ghost of Yōtei while keeping his earlier design recognizable.
This is the only context in which Jin has been confirmed for Ghost of Yōtei. Sucker Punch has not announced him as part of Atsu’s main campaign or the separate Echoes of Sekigahara narrative expansion. His appearance should therefore be treated as a Most Wanted roster addition, not confirmation of a story crossover between the two protagonists.
Most Wanted turns the Yōtei Six into repeatable bounties
Each run begins at a bounty board, where the player chooses a target connected to a member of the Yōtei Six. Reaching that target requires surviving enemy waves and minibosses. After clearing a wave, players select perks that shape the current build before facing the bounty’s final boss.
Completed bounties can be replayed at higher difficulty levels, with the toughest announced challenge centered on Lord Saito. Available perk categories include weapon mastery, equipment loadouts, summons, parrying and survivability, giving the mode a stronger emphasis on experimentation than the main campaign.
Most Wanted also has progression between runs. Players earn Mon that can be spent on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms and character unlocks. Cosmetics earned in the mode carry into Atsu’s main adventure and Echoes of Sekigahara.
The four-character roster is built around different weapons and combat specialties:
Atsu is the default character, using dual katana, blinding Ghost Tools and an Ultimate that summons two wolves.
Oyuki combines the kusarigama, kunai and tanegashima rifle with assassination and ally-summoning abilities.
Nagato uses a yari, pistol and two bow types, supported by guaranteed-headshot and explosive-arrow abilities.
Jin Sakai uses his stance-based katana style, Sticky Bomb, short bow, Dance of Wrath and Ghost Stance.
The mode is strictly presented as a single-player activity. It is separate from Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the game’s online cooperative component.
Complete Edition access, pricing and regional timing
Existing Ghost of Yōtei owners can purchase the Complete Edition Upgrade for US$14.99. The upgrade includes Most Wanted, Echoes of Sekigahara and the previously released Digital Deluxe in-game content. U.S. pricing is shown here; prices and availability can differ by region.
For new players, the official PlayStation game page lists the digital Complete Edition at US$69.99. It provides immediate access to the base game, Ghost of Yōtei Legends and the bundled deluxe content, with Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara unlocking through patch version 2.0. A physical Complete Edition is scheduled for October 1.
Digital purchases or upgrade pre-orders completed by September 30 include an early unlock of the Sakai Armor for Atsu. The armor can otherwise be unlocked by playing Most Wanted, so the offer concerns early access rather than an exclusive item.
Sucker Punch lists patch version 2.0 for October 1, 2026, with an October 2 release in some territories, including Asia, Australia and New Zealand. An internet connection and PlayStation account are required to download it. Players in the Philippines should follow the Asian regional timing and confirm availability through their local PlayStation Store.
Echoes of Sekigahara expands Atsu’s story separately
The Complete Edition’s other major addition is Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. Its story moves between Atsu’s past at the Battle of Sekigahara and the present, where Nagato arrives in Ezo while being hunted by the Vipers.
Atsu and Nagato must work together in the previously unseen Ashoro Foothills. Sucker Punch has confirmed new enemy types, heavy weapons, Mythic Tales, abilities, armor sets and cosmetics for the expansion. Jin has not been announced as part of this storyline.
Players who do not buy the Complete Edition upgrade will still receive several additions through the free version 2.0 patch. These include Beauty of Yōtei, an environment-viewing mode with Photo Mode access; more music for Watanabe Mode; an option to use one armor set’s appearance with another set’s statistics; and a new high-contrast accessibility setting.
The next confirmed milestone is the version 2.0 rollout on October 1, or October 2 in listed Asian territories. At launch, Jin’s return will be confined to Most Wanted’s single-player bounty runs, while Echoes of Sekigahara continues Atsu’s story in a separate expansion.
