RPGs This Week: FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE and Stupid Never Dies Lead October 19 to 25

Update (19 October 2026): We corrected the PlayStation 5 times for FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE and Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest. Both unlock at midnight local time in each region, not at one moment worldwide, according to the PlayStation Store listings in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, Australia and Singapore.

Three games we cover arrive between Monday, October 19 and Sunday, October 25, 2026, and they all land on October 22 and 23 in Asia time (GMT+8), which can still be October 21 and 22 in Europe and the US. FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE and Stupid Never Dies lead the week, and both have a free demo on Steam. Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest follows a day later.

Stupid Never Dies (October 22)

Stupid Never Dies opens the week. It is an action RPG made and published by GPTRACK50, a studio founded by veteran action game developers. You play Davy, the weakest zombie imaginable, who fights down through a dungeon to revive a girl named Julia. He grows by eating monsters and taking their abilities, and you reshape his body as you go.

It comes to PC and PlayStation 5. Steam shows October 21, and the PlayStation Store in Singapore shows it unlocking at 6:00 AM on October 22 in Asia time (GMT+8), the same moment as 3:00 PM PDT and 6:00 PM EDT on October 21, or 11:00 PM in London. Stores in other regions can list their own unlock times. A free demo, First Bite, is on Steam now, so you can test the combat before paying. It is a single player game, and our demo impressions cover three hours with it.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE (October 22)

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is the biggest name of the week. Square Enix and LANCARSE have made a single player, turn-based JRPG in the HD-2D style, which sets pixel art characters in scenes with modern lighting and depth. Two knights fight to protect the elemental crystals. In battle you find enemy weaknesses, stagger them and follow up with Resonance attacks, while Visions of classic Final Fantasy heroes let you shape the party.

It is listed for October 22 on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, and the Switch version also runs on Nintendo Switch 2. On PlayStation 5 it unlocks at midnight local time in each region on October 22: in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, in Tokyo, in London and Central Europe, and at midnight Eastern in the US (9:00 PM Pacific on October 21), so Asia and Australia get it first. Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest (October 23)

Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest closes the week. Bamtang Games developed it and Trailmark Games publishes it, based on Erin Hunter's Warrior Cats books. You create your own cat, explore the Lake Territories, hunt prey, craft and build a den, and fight turn-based battles with up to three cats across four Clan campaigns.

Steam and the Nintendo eShop list October 23, and the PlayStation 5 version unlocks at midnight local time in each region that day: in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, in Seoul and Tokyo, in London and Central Europe, and at midnight Eastern in the US (9:00 PM Pacific on October 22). The Steam page does not offer a demo, and no Asian language is listed, so check the language options before you buy.

Coming the week after

October 26 to November 1 brings three more:

• October 28: The Lord of the Rings Online: The Wolves of Mordor (PC). Standing Stone Games now expects to release the expansion on this date.

• October 29: Monster Hunter Outlanders (Mobile)

• October 29: Phantom Blade Zero (PC, PlayStation 5)

NEXTARCA's take

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is the release most worth your time this week, and it is also the easiest one to test. Play the Steam demo first. If finding weaknesses and staggering enemies still holds your interest after an hour, the full game should too.

Stupid Never Dies has more personality than most action RPGs, but a game built on repeated dungeon runs can wear thin, so we would try its demo and then wait for the first player reports. Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is one for readers of the books. Everyone else can wait on it, with Phantom Blade Zero only a week away.
