World of Dokkaebi cuts new equipment bonus effects after an emergency livestream

Kakao Games says the extra equipment effects added in the 14 October update were far too strong. A temporary maintenance will scale them back, every player gets apology rewards, and reroll tickets follow on 21 October.

World of Dokkaebi's team has admitted that the extra equipment effects added in the 14 October update came out much stronger than planned. After an emergency livestream, Kakao Games posted an apology notice on the official community that explains how the effects will be cut back and what players get in return.

The team says it also failed to think through how useful and balanced each new effect would be. Some players had warned that the numbers were high enough to undercut gear they had already built up.

What changes in the temporary maintenance

A temporary maintenance will apply the fix. The notice says its time will be announced separately once it is set. After it, the extra effects drop to roughly these levels compared with their values right after the update:

  • Rare gear: about 5%
  • Heroic gear: about 20%
  • Legendary gear: about 50%

The team stresses that all three stay higher than they were before the 14 October maintenance. The same maintenance also makes attack accuracy more useful in real fights, mainly against bosses with high evasion. The notice says this is not meant to make accuracy mandatory for normal play.

Apology rewards

Every player receives an apology package once the temporary maintenance ends. It holds 2,000,000 bound coins, 200 bound Yohon stones, a bound random outfit key, a selection box for a heroic accessory design and 200 material selection boxes. All of it is character bound.

What comes on 21 October

The 21 October maintenance brings free reroll tickets for extra effects, so players can roll their existing weapons and armor again. Kakao Games says these tickets will never be sold in the shop and will later be earned only through play. Players who dismantled heroic or better gear because they did not like its new effects will have it restored based on the game's records, with details in a later notice.

The team also aims to add about 30 new story quests next week, adjust crafting material drop rates based on data, and fix extra effects that do not show properly in the exchange.

NEXTARCA's take

Pulling back a buff this hard, this soon after launch, will sting for anyone who already spent coins upgrading a lucky rare weapon. Cutting rare effects to 5% is a big swing, and the reroll tickets only help players who still own the gear. Still, a fast reversal with real compensation is better than letting the gap between lucky and unlucky players set the tone for the whole server.

For RPG players watching from outside Korea, this is a useful signal. Supercat and Kakao Games respond quickly when balance goes wrong, but the game's gear systems are clearly still settling. If you plan to jump in, waiting until after 21 October looks like the safer moment.
