Veyora Launches in Steam Early Access With Version 0.5.0 and a 30% Launch Discount

Veyora, a medieval open-world RPG made by a solo developer, is out now in Early Access on Steam as version 0.5.0. The developer, Chris, confirmed the launch in the developer's announcement and called it only the start of the game's development.

When it went live and where to play

The launch post went up at 22:38 UTC on October 25. That was 3:38 PM in Los Angeles (PDT), 6:38 PM in New York (EDT), 10:38 PM in London (GMT) and 11:38 PM in Central Europe (CET) on October 25, and 6:38 AM in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei (GMT+8) and 7:38 AM in Seoul and Tokyo (GMT+9) on October 26.

The game is on Windows through Steam, with English and German listed. A 30% launch discount runs until November 4. Prices differ by region, so check the store page for yours.

What you can do in Veyora

The game is set around Lake Veyora, a region of forests, villages, towns and ruins. You wake in a room above a tavern in Grey Hollow with most of your memories gone, and from there the direction is yours. You can follow quests, build a home or base where you like, farm crops and raise animals, craft, mine, gather, brew with alchemy, trade, and fight with melee, ranged attacks and magic. Horses, changing weather and a day and night cycle round it out. It can be played alone, in online co-op or over LAN.

What Early Access means here

The store page says Early Access should last about 6 to 12 months. The developer calls the current build stable and playable, but warns of bugs, placeholder pieces and balance that will change, with item prices and the economy named as examples. The base game will likely cost more at full release.

Version 0.5.0 follows a closed beta of version 0.4.0, devlogs in August and September focused on balance, performance and animation, and a demo during Steam Fest announced on October 22. The developer also showed the game at PopCon in Zurich. Feedback goes through the game's Discord and Steam reviews.

What is still unknown

No dated roadmap has been published yet, so it is not stated which features come next or when the next version will arrive. The full release price is not given either.

Veyora promises a lot for one person: open-world questing, farming, free building and co-op in one package. That mix is exactly what many RPG players want from a relaxed survival game, and it is also where solo projects tend to stretch thin. The honest Early Access notes help, since the developer is upfront that the economy and balance still need work. Our advice is to try the Steam Fest demo if it is still available, then decide. If the questing already feels good at 0.5.0, the launch discount and the planned price rise make an early buy reasonable for patient players.
